At the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bonn, the position of

W3 Professor for Clinical-Molecular Cardiology

is to be filled on a permanent basis at the earliest opportunity.

The holder of the professorship is to represent the entire field of cardiology in research, teaching, and patient´s care. The position is affiliated to the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic II – Cardiology, Pulmonology, Angiology, Internal Intensive Care Medicine – Heart Center at University Hospital Bonn (Director Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. G. Nickenig) and goes along with heading a division of the department.

The University is looking for a recognized expert in catheter-based treatment of structural and coronary heart disease as well as in internal intensive care medicine. Proven expertise in the field of cardiovascular and immunological basic research, including cardiac, vascular, and valvular animal models, is a prerequisite. Extensive experience in clinic management and leader-ship is essential. He/she should strengthen and further develop existing profile areas and research networks in the Faculty of Medicine, particularly the cardiovascular focus, and should also play a key role in the Collaborative Research Center TRR259.

Excellent scientific achievements and experience in acquiring third-party funding and teaching students are required. The successful candidate must have completed a degree in medicine and specialist certification in internal medicine and cardiology, habilitation or equivalent academic achievements in accordance with section 36 of the University Law NRW.
