General Description:

protecting our planet and everyone who inhabits it. We have built a
powerful national movement with 30+ state affiliates, and
grassroots and community organizing programs across the country.
LCV and our state affiliates, collectively called the Conservation
Voters Movement (CVM), have committed to building an anti-racist
national network by advancing racial justice and equity in
everything we do. This organizational work involves an active
process of identifying racism and other interlocking forms of
oppression as they exist in our policies, practices, and
institutions; changing and applying internal policies and power
dynamics in ways that work to eliminate systemic racial inequities;
and, working to change societal policies and power dynamics to
eliminate systemic racial inequities. 

LCV is hiring a Senior Director, Unified Fundraising who will be
responsible for the implementation of a new fundraising pilot
program to foster successful fundraising collaboration between LCV
and a select group of state affiliates. The goal of Unified
Fundraising is to combine fundraising between LCV and participating
state affiliates, resulting in more money from more donors to power
the Conservation Voters Movement. Fundamental to this effort is the
opportunity to pursue anti-racist fundraising.

Our 10 year vision is for all fundraising programs, from
membership to major donors and from foundations to planned giving,
to be unified with state affiliates. We plan to phase the
implementation of the work, starting with institutional/foundation
fundraising; planned giving; mid-level donors; and membership
testing. 

The ideal candidate to lead this transition is an experienced
and effective leader with deep knowledge of establishing and
directing fundraising systems. They are an effective collaborator
and communicator, a creative problem solver, familiar with
principles of racial equity and social justice, and seasoned at
project management.   

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and launch of the Unified Fundraising
    program, managing and collaborating with senior staff
    cross-departmentally at LCV and at select state
    affiliates. 
  • Lead detailed planning and assessment of each of the four pilot
    areas: planned giving, mid-level donors, membership message
    testing, and institutional giving. 
  • Lead the development of collaborative communications and
    management systems as well as the development of policies including
    MOUs, donor relations protocols, and revenue sharing across LCV and
    state affiliates.  
  • Build and lead the implementation of the “Hub” of centralized
    services that support Unified Fundraising consisting of data,
    research, portfolio development, marketing, legal, and skill
    building. This includes working cross-departmentally to hire new
    staff and consultants at LCV and working in coordination with state
    affiliates. 
  • Oversee Unified Fundraising budgeting process, including
    revenue and expenses across multiple entities, including state
    affiliates.
  • In collaboration with state affiliate and national staff across
    various teams, manage and evaluate the Unified Fundraising work of
    state and national staff.
  • Help integrate and test anti-racist fundraising practices and
    share learnings and progress within LCV and with state
    affiliates.
  • Work with the LCV Data team to ensure that data and donor
    management systems are well positioned to manage, analyze, and
    evaluate the work.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time for in-state visits with state
    affiliate staff, retreats, training, and conferences, as
    needed.

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: 
    • Required – 8+ years experience
      with fund development operations, including budgeting and
      reporting, staff management, systems development and evaluation.
      Experience managing or directing a fund development
      program. Project management experience, including effectively
      managing across departments and working with other senior
      management leaders. Demonstrated understanding of all fundraising
      programs, including membership, major donors, institutional giving
      and planned giving.
    • Preferred – Experience working
      within an affiliated organizational network, ideally experience
      with collaborative fundraising in the network. Experience
      working with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations. Experience
      with strategic planning and launching new initiatives. Demonstrated
      understanding of data management and  experience sharing data
      across systems.
  • Skills: Ability to
    manage many details, complicated processes, databases, tracking
    systems and working across teams. Excellent listener and
    communicator. Excellent project management skills. Ability to work
    with different stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Able to work
    effectively at all levels of the organization and with multiple
    stakeholders. Highly detail oriented. Creative and innovative; a
    problem-solver and resourceful during challenging or new
    situations.

  • Working Conditions: This
    job operates in a professional office environment, and routinely
    uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
    photocopiers, and audiovisual systems. This position is largely
    sedentary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. The
    person in this position frequently communicates with partners and
    must be able to exchange accurate information. Applicants need to
    be located in and legally authorized to work in the United States.
