Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

We are seeking creative and upbeat Research Associate I (RA) that will assist the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of experimental data, and writing up experiment results.

  • Develop software based on the proposed algorithm, and conduct user studies regarding the functionality of the software.

  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.

  • May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.

  • Perform literature review in related areas such as deep generative models, image and video synthesis, and neural rendering.

  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.

  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.

  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in computer science and engineering fields

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong scientific writing skills

  • Problem solving and reasoning skills

  • 1-3 years of experience with data collection and analysis

  • 1-3 years of research experience

  • 1-3 years of research lab experience

  • 1-3 years of research methodology experience

Required Skill Sets:

  • Strong Python programming skills

  • Proficient in PyTorch deep learning framework

  • Familiar with deep learning, computer vision, and computer graphics literature
