The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

The Senior Manager, Practitioners and Capability leads a number of state-wide programs and services which are a critical component of Courts family violence response, including specialist family violence practitioners, information sharing, central information point, implementation of MARAMIS and other centralised supports. The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring quality and responsiveness of service, as well as continuous improvement. The Senior Manager also leads the team responsible for building the family violence specialist capability of relevant workforces, including the implementation and embedding of MARAMIS.

The role works effectively at a senior level, in a highly confidential, challenging and transformational work environment with a focus on the court user and is required to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior members of the judiciary, the executive leadership group, court operations and key internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Director, Practice and Operations, the Senior Manager is a key expert on specialist family violence practices and approaches, with strong project manager skills. The Senior Manager has a leadership role within the Family Violence Branch and leads a team to deliver this work.

About you

Family Violence:

  • Significant demonstrated experience in a leadership role within courts, the justice system, government or family violence sector.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of family violence and therapeutic responses within the broader family violence and justice service systems.

Management:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in successfully driving organisation change in a complex environment and influencing outcomes to achieve objectives.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including flexibility and resilience in managing critical stakeholder relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing programs and teams in complex organisational environments.
  • Experience in leading teams within the justice system, particularly the courts, is highly advantageous.
