The position will take an active role in a fast-paced environmental restoration team. The licensed (FAA 107) drone pilot will operate multiple drone systems to support the Practice Area needs. This includes survey/mapping drones for data collection both during pre-design and post construction of large restoration sites. Role also will operate an agricultural spray drone to target invasive species. Position will be responsible for maintenance and organization and care of drones.

Overnight travel and working for extended periods throughout the Midwest will be project specific but overnight travel will be required.

Candidates may be asked to demonstrate skill proficiency during the interview process. Current FAA Part 107 certificate, flight records and documentation of flight time will be required for interview. At least 2 interviews are anticipated for successful award of the position.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have a multidisciplinary background containing a mixture of surveying, stream and wetland habitat assessment, fluvial geomorphology morphology, and construction layout experience. The individual should be an autonomous, highly motivated individual that can communicate effectively, document work activities, solve problems and troubleshoot in an outdoor environment and/or active construction atmosphere. A strong desire to improve the environment and passion for restoration should be at the core of the individual’s personality. Excellent communication skills and the right personality are important.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • FAA 107 License
  • At least 80 hours of logged flight time

Other Desirable Skills

  • Ohio Dept. of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator License – Categories 1, 3A, 4A, 5
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, video editing and rendering
  • DJI Terra and/or Pix4D software experience
