The person occupying this position will be under the direct supervision of the Principal Technical Advisor of the Project and must coordinate closely with the ILO Communications Assistant for the Andean Countries.
Description of tasks:
- Support with the development and implementation of the project’s communication strategy in close coordination with the ILO Communications Assistant for the Andean Countries.
- Provide specialized support for the development and dissemination of communication and information products and services, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Assist senior management with internal Office communications.
- Keep up to date with ILO issues and news related to the world of work.
- Provide documentation services, and maintain and update web pages, databases and content management systems for the Internet, classifying information in accordance with applicable regulations. Maintain contacts with relevant staff and managers regarding technical content, information on activities and issues of key importance.
- Prepare and review communication and information products, ensuring that their design and layout comply with applicable regulations.
- Conduct press reviews and disseminate relevant news to members of the Office, Regional Office, Headquarters and other interested parties, if applicable.
- Maintain contacts with the media and journalists to provide information on upcoming meetings and special events, including accreditation procedures and other procedures governing media coverage of ILO events. Maintain and update a distribution list/media contacts.
- Obtain information from various sources and respond to general queries and requests in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date on the evolution of communication and information management methods, techniques, tools, standards and guidelines, and share information with interested parties.
- Participate in the organization of meetings, conferences, campaigns and other events, providing administrative support and ensuring the availability and dissemination of materials.
- Prepare contributions, generate reports, extract and compile data and present the basic information necessary to carry out analysis and prepare reports.
- Provide administrative and office support services, including drafting general correspondence, initiating and following up on administrative actions, and processing translation and printing requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Complete secondary education.
Desirable:
- Training in a field related to communication or information management.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of work experience in support tasks in communication or information management.
- Valuable: Work experience in the area of design and production of communication pieces.
- Work experience in the ILO or within the framework of the United Nations system in managing campaigns or information dissemination processes within the framework of development cooperation projects
Languages:
- Excellent knowledge of the Spanish language and working level of the English language.
