About the role
Working as part of Nutrition International’s Program Operations Team, and based in or near the Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, the position provides advice and grant management support to various Nutrition International staff as it relates to the organization’s food fortification portfolio and aligned approaches. The position specifically supports Fortification Senior Program Officers in our country offices, as well as the Global Portfolio Director to ensure effective management of projects goals and objectives ensuring we carry out activities and submit reports on time and in good standing. The post-holder will support NI staff in developing and implementing LSFF programs primarily in Africa.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, or provide inputs to NI project performance measurement (monitoring, and as needed, evaluation) frameworks Provide strategic input, and technical guidance, across the projects’ activities;
- Support the development of NI Project Concept Notes and proposals in the field of Food Fortification adding value through applying up-to-date subject awareness to ensure proposals are sound, realistic, achievable and sustainable.
- Provide technical quality assurance and support to NI staff and partners in implementing food fortification programs ensuring appropriate engagement of Government, development partners and other key stakeholders.
- Support in the development of Terms of Reference for key program components.
- Monitor spending and support the development of workplans.
- Support country teams to produce donor reports on time and to a high quality.
- Develop networks and collaborative relations to facilitate and reinforce sharing of best practice with other relevant programs, experts and organizations in Africa and globally.
- Promote the value and use of effective food fortification strategies to stakeholders and government counterparts.
- Support NI country teams through tracking their work in monitoring and reporting on FF interventions providing suggestions for quality improvement as appropriate.
- Monitor approaches, roles of selected partners, tools, materials and strategies developed across NI food fortification projects and interventions to identify opportunities for disseminating for organizational learning.
- Support the design and conduct of efficacy and effectiveness studies related to food fortification interventions in the Africa Region, as requested.
About you
You have;
- Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Processing, Food Science; or in the fields of public health, nutrition, engineering, if supported by appropriate experience in working in Food Fortification At least 15 years working experience in international development or a related area.
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience working in food fortification or a related field, with a strong preference for significant experience in Africa and understanding of nutrition.
- Awareness and experience of both Public Health and Private Sector issues and approaches to food fortification.
- Awareness and experience of both Public Health and Private Sector issues and approaches to food fortification.
- Program development and management experience.
- Experience in Research, Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation and reporting skills
- Commitment to international development principles
- Good negotiating skills
