The Opportunity 

Join a team driving the translation of innovative Medical Technologies from bench to bedside, to enhance healthcare practice, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare professionals and the healthcare system. As the Clinical Engagement Consultant, you will play a key role, within the Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering (Tyree IHealthE) in facilitating and expanding the institute’s engagement with clinicians and other partners in the identification of unmet needs and facilitating the development of health technologies for clinical implementation and commercialisation. This role is an immersive, educational, and professional development opportunity for individuals with a clinical background and an interest in seeking experience in health technology translation and commercialisation. 

This role reports to the Head of Strategy and Innovation, Ian Goon, and has no direct reports 

  • Salary, Level 7: $106,351 to $115,103 per annum + 17% superannuation (pro-rated to 0.2 FTE) 
  • Part time – 7 hours per week (0.2 FTE) 
  • Fixed term contract – 12 months 
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience 

  • A Bachelor of Medicine and/or Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS, M.D.) or bachelor’s in medical or health field or related area. 
  • Demonstrated experience in a clinical or healthcare setting. 
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to engage with healthcare professionals, researchers, industry, or end-users to facilitate collaborations and develop new innovation projects. 
  • Understanding of medical device commercialisation, intellectual property management, regulatory approval processes or quality management systems would be desirable but not a requirement. 
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior management and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands. 
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
