Job Summary/Basic Function ­­­­­About This Role:
Provides academic and practicum instruction within the School of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and practicum experiences for students. Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to the Instructor rank. Reports to the Director of Undergraduate Nursing Studies, and/or Director of Graduate Nursing Studies, on curriculum and course issues (e.g., students, practicum), and reports to the School of Nursing Chair on all other issues (e.g., personnel, assignments).
What You’ll Do:

  • Teaches students in the practicum, laboratory and classroom settings.
  • Maintains academic standards as established by the School of Nursing, college, and university.
  • Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in practicum, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
  • Participates in program, School of Nursing, college and university committees and in other activities associated with professional status.
  • Assumes responsibility for the planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of School of Nursing, program, course, and student activities.
  • Maintains membership in and participates in activities of professional associations.
    • Displays scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member:Utilizes teaching-learning principles appropriately;
    • Serves as a knowledgeable resources person to, students, and community;
    • Shares professional expertise beyond the local level;

    8. Assists in developing reports required for the operation of the School of Nursing
    9. Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings,
    workshops, professional meetings, etc.
    10. Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students

    Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience) Master’s degree in nursing required.
    Experience in clinical nursing.
    Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
    Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)

    Physical Requirements Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
