Job Description
Positions Summary
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the lab of Lavinia Sheets, Department of Otolaryngology, at the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis.
Hair cells are the exquisitely sensitive and inexhaustible sensory receptors of the auditory and vestibular systems. The Sheets Lab focuses on understanding how traumatic injury damages sensory hair cells and innervating nerves, and identifying cellular processes that drive repair following damage. We address these questions using zebrafish as a model for hearing and deafness. The lab incorporates many experimental approaches—including histology, genome editing, functional imaging, optogenetics, and behavior—to address research questions in auditory neuroscience. You can learn more about what we do at our website: sheetslab.net/ .
Our lab is part of an exceptional and collaborative group of researchers affiliated with Fay & Carl Simons Center for the Biology of Hearing and Deafness. We are also members of the Washington University Zebrafish Consortium, which promotes zebrafish research and supports one of the largest state-of-the-art zebrafish facilities in the world.
