APPLiA – Home Appliance Europe is looking for a talented Communication Intern to join its dream team for a 6-months paid internship (maternity replacement). Please note that candidates must be eligible for a Convention D’immersion Professionnelle (CIP).

APPLiA is the trade Association representing home appliance manufacturers in Europe. We have 25 Direct Members and 26 National Associations. APPLiA promotes the industry’s mission to advance sustainable lifestyles, increasing appliance performance while reducing its impact on the environment. It plays an active role in the fields of sustainability, circular economy, energy efficiency, ecodesign, energy labelling, e-waste, resource management, chemicals, digital economy, trade, consumer protection, safety and standardisation.
Position summary
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Policy Director, Digital & Competitiveness and assist the team in following and advancing trade legislation such as customs, WTO and trade agreements, digital issues including data, smart living, cybersecurity, AI engaging with APPLiA members, researching and preparing APPLiA positions and maintaining the Product Information Standard. Additional tasks include assisting with the organisation of relevant Working Groups and liaising with members, among others.
- Monitor EU legislation on Trade (WTO, Customs, Free Trade agreements) and Digital (data-sharing, cybersecurity, AI, standards);
- Assess regulatory and policy initiatives from the EU institutions and position papers’ drafting;
- Support with the management of working groups on trade and digital economy with a view to reaching a consensus position among APPLiA Direct Members;
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, presentations, documents and logistics;
- Present relevant topics to the APPLiA membership at working group meetings and general assembly meetings;
- Preparing content for the Standard in Microsoft Excel and performing maintenance tasks of the PI Standers in the Standard Definition Manager.
Where you shine
- Relevant Bachelor or Master’s Degree in relevant fields. Complementary studies on IT, digital and trade are an asset;
- Excellent command of English (written and oral); knowledge of other European languages would be a strong advantage;
- Project management and presentation skills;
- Ability to draft and edit engaging reports, briefings and position papers;
- High level of IT literacy including Google Docs, MS Office, Google presentations, spreadsheets, databases, web-meeting platforms;
- Data and information driven , with an ability to work autonomously and simultaneously on competing demands and deadlines;
- Capacity to work effectively in cross-cultural and diverse stakeholder environment;
- A young, motivating, multilingual and multicultural working environment;
- Modern office with a bird’s eye view of Brussels and a team full of high spirits;
- Regular team-building fun events and travels;
- 6 months paid internship, with possibility to join the team for the longer contract.
