The position will be based in Washington, DC, United States and will report to CPM Global Manager, Debt and Operations Support.

The position will involve regular monitoring and good understanding of IFC’s debt portfolio performance, including key risk and profitability indicators as well as assessment of portfolio or asset level performance drivers. These deliverables will encompass extensive and close collaboration with multiple departments/teams across IFC (e.g., Credit and Risk Departments, Global Macro, Global Equity, Special Operations, Regional Industry Managers, etc.).

- Take an active role in the design and implementation of appropriate governance frameworks in relation to key portfolio management activities; identify potential gaps in existing portfolio procedures and processes, and work with relevant stakeholders across IFC to address them or develop new procedures.
- Play a lead role in representing IFC’s portfolio management function in forums to further the consistent and systematic implementation of portfolio related activities across IFC’s investment portfolio.
- Participate in initiatives related to developing and strengthening metrics to measure and track quality and consistency of portfolio supervision (including, but also beyond, compliance).
- Participate in knowledge sharing and training initiatives to enhance the flow of knowledge and lessons learned and scale up best practices across IFC.
- Contribute to key CPMDO activities and deliverables as needed, including but not limited to designing and implementation of governance and methodology related to IFC’s self-evaluation of projects; monitoring and reporting operational risk as it related to IFC’s investment portfolio, etc.
- Guide and oversee junior staff as they contribute to activities related to the above-described responsibilities and initiatives.
Selection Criteria:
- MBA or equivalent qualification, with a minimum 8-year experience in the field of investments in emerging markets, including portfolio management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IFC’s investment operations. Experience and proven track-record – both in structuring new investments and portfolio management would be deemed a strong plus.
- Deep understanding of debt investments in one or more of IFC’s industries.
- Proven understanding of operational policies, practices, and procedures, particularly as they relate to or impact IFC’s portfolio.
- Strong, demonstrated organizational/project management skills to coordinate team work on multiple projects simultaneously to deliver high quality products reliably on time.
- Ability to formulate conclusions and recommendations on portfolio performance patterns supported by presentation of decision-quality data.
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization, with demonstrated team spirit and responsiveness.
- Ability to influence across functions, partnering closely with operations and corporate units across IFC to develop solutions, ensuring quality, efficiency and timeliness in the delivery of initiatives.
- Effective communication (verbal and written), ability to work with people at all levels of the organization, strong analytical and organizational skills, and great attention to detail.
