We are looking for an employee for the “Country Specific Contact Point Visa & Security” Malawi Based on remuneration
The “weltwärts” development volunteer service enables both young adults from Germany and young adults from the Global South to gain international learning experience for their future life and career. The voluntary service is intended to provide an important impetus for civic engagement and global learning in the partner countries and in Germany.
The deployment of 18-28 year old volunteers is financially supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by German sending and host organisations together with sending and host organisations from the Global South in social, ecological and cultural projects in over 60 countries worldwide.
All German sending and host organisations have joined quality associations which, together with the other stakeholders, ensure that the programme is implemented to a high standard.
As a quality network fid/AGIAMONDO we are looking for a “country-specific contact point in the area of visa & security” for Malawi, who will work together with the responsible actors from the weltwärts programme (weltwärts Voluntary Service North-South/South-North).
Your tasks:
- Summary of information on visa requirements and changes to the relevant regulations for obtaining residence and work permits for the South-North and North-South components of the weltwärts voluntary service programme
- General advice for sending and host organisations as well as quality associations, Engagement Global and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on issues relating to visas, residence regulations and security
- Support of the German Embassy in the visa extension procedure
- Forwarding and, if necessary, compiling safety and health-related information (e.g. from embassies/regional authorities)
- Communicating weltwärts-relevant matters to the German Embassy and, if necessary, to local authorities and processing related enquiries
Your profile:
- Knowledge of the relevant administrative structures in Malawi with regard to residence law/visas – Residence in Malawi
- Professional experience in the NGO sector in Malawi, ideally in the field of voluntary services
- Experience in cooperating with various stakeholders and networks (cooperation with authorities and NGOs)
- Very good communication skills
- Independent and autonomous way of working
- Very good knowledge of English and German

Country of assignment:
Malawi The time required for this activity is approx. 320 hours per year. Whoever submits the best offer and is awarded the contract will initially be issued a contract for a fee-based activity for one year. The contract can then be extended for a further two years. The project is currently limited until the end of 2026.
