UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peace building, humanitarian and development projects. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.
The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management.
The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their Peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP). It provides Services to partners’ programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.
UNOPS has signed a service-based agreement with the UN to provide ICT scope of services agreed in the financial agreements.
Our UN partner has requested the assistance of UNOPS in providing various ICT services. UNOPS has entered into a service-oriented agreement with the UN ICT partner to deliver support in various ICT domains. The objective of this function is to support our partner in executing the activities outlined in this TOR.
This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for or in the United Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.
Under the overall supervision of Senior Programme Manager and in direct supervision of ICT Development Specialist and in direct oversight of End User Computing Unit, the ICT Specialist, the ICT Specialist will be performing the following functions:

1. Configuration Management
- Design, implement, and support all aspects of the Software Library (collections, software, packages/applications, software updates, and operating systems deployment) as well as WSUS, ADK/WAIK, MDT, USMT.
- Troubleshoot client-agent issues for all policy and content distribution.
- Create custom reports and SQL queries.
2. Operations Management
- Practice the structured Management Pack Lifecycle discipline.
- Deploy Management Packs.
- Troubleshoot and monitor Operations Manager infrastructure and misconfigured or malfunctioning issues and manage agent provisioning/de-provisioning.
- Test and document Operations Manager patches, service packs, creating and maintaining documentation to secure Management Pack content knowledge.
3. Support and Maintenance
- Manage day-to-day design, installation, and post-installation sustainment activities.
4. Performs other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.
Expected Results:
The results of the work of the ICT Specialist impact directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of the Server, Storage and Backup Unit as well as the performance of these services implemented in the OICT field missions and headquarters. It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest of the industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities for all global locations are in line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules and regulations.

Education:
- Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in Information Systems or Computer Science or a related area.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
Required:
- A minimum of five years of experience in systems administration in a large enterprise environment is required including a minimum of three years of operational experience using Microsoft technologies to perform a broad range of Microsoft related technical functions (such as deployment, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, & maintenance).
- An expert level of knowledge of Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune.
- Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, TCP/IP, WMI, SNMP, Powershell, VB scripting, and MS SQL Server.
Desirable:
- Expertise in sites, site roles, site component configuration including Primary and Secondary sites, Distribution Points, Pull Distribution Points, discovery, boundaries, Application Catalog, and client policy.
- Expertise in Microsoft Intune Application deployment and life cycle.
Language requirements:
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required.
- Knowledge of another United Nations official languages is an asset.
