Purpose
The Finance Manager is a key contributor in ensuring the success of the Medical School’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities.
Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clinical partners pertaining to the financial interests of Dell Medical School.

  • Oversee and manage Accounts Receivable for Dell Medical School including, but not limited to generating monthly invoices, working with domain contacts to ensure invoice and roster accuracy relevant to changing personnel, effort, expenses, and other items unique to each program, tracking and posting payments, and following-up as needed with affiliate partners.

  • Serve as the primary Dell Med Finance contact for all affiliate contracts, fostering relationships and maintaining accounting records supporting affiliate contracts. This includes representing Finance interests in meetings with leadership at affiliate partners and with Dell Med Business Development.

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements. As part of this process, confirm that transaction coding for transactions in general ledger system is correct. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles across the entire Medical School.

  • Assist with documenting and monitoring internal controls ensuring alignment with fiscal policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, UT System and university regulations and policy.

  • Provide analytic capacity in support of the business and academic program opportunities. Carry out ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of Medical School initiatives.

  • Assist Dell Med Business Development with affiliate contract review to audit information including, but not limited to compensation, effort, historical data, and other financial elements.

  • Oversee accounting analyst – review prepared financial transactions including, but not limited to cash/check deposits, budget transfers, accounting corrections, and journal entries, assist analyst with invoice preparation and accuracy, and other report generation for Dell Medical School.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. At least five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis. At least five years related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility. Extensive knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles and general ledger systems and procedures. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytic, project management, and presentation skills, as well as demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing financial and capital planning. Strong organizational skills, a flexible work style and be able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or related field. Experience in academic healthcare, hospital, and/or higher education setting.
Salary Range
$75,000 + depending on qualifications
