Position Summary | The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track or tenured position in music scoring for visual media, with a specialization in video game scoring. Expected start date: 08/01/2024. Responsibilities will include (1) teaching various courses in music scoring for visual media; (2) serving the department, the Jacobs School of Music, and the university as necessary; and (3) maintaining an active career as a composer. Basic Qualifications | Composer with a growing or established national reputation, preferably including significant recognition as shown through AA and AAA video game releases, recordings, broadcasts, awards, or appearances at conference and festivals. Desired qualifications include a strong music business background, ranging, but not limited to, legal contract understanding, royalty, licensing, and other revenue streams knowledge. Ability and willingness to interact with media, game design and music business programs throughout the university. The department places high priority on increasing and supporting diversity and inclusion in the field of composition, and so demonstrated commitment in this area is desired. Master’s degree required. Commensurate professional experience will also be considered. |
