Location: Taunton/Hybrid
Salary: £29,539 per annum
Hours: Full time / Part time / Flexible
Contract: Permanent

If you possess expertise in assessing and compiling geospatial products, this is an exciting
opportunity to join our team at the UKHO and provide crucial marine environment information
that supports the safety and security of our waters.

About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)

We are a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to
support safe, secure and thriving oceans. We fulfil the UK government’s Safety of Life at Sea
obligations and are relied upon by defence users, government and global shipping.

The role

Tactical Product Specialists are responsible for planning, producing, and enhancing UKHO’s
world-renowned products, which allow our Defence customers such as the Royal Navy to exploit
the maritime environment during live operations and exercises. Specifically focused on Littoral
and Riverine products, you will enable customers to operate close to the shore to
deploy/recover amphibious forces or operate in confined, high-risk areas.

Working within a small team of specialists, you will be liaising with various other UKHO teams
to integrate data, imagery, and textual information into Littoral and Riverine products. You
will also maintain good working relationships with our customers which will in turn give you a
unique opportunity to see your products in use, understand customer needs, and source/assess
incoming data to ensure ongoing alignment with customer requirements.

About you

These products are primarily based on the ESRI GIS production tools, so successful candidates
will be required to demonstrate experience in working with geospatial/hydrographic data and
information using these tools. Experience with Adobe software would also be advantageous.

Previous experience in working within Defence and operating within the maritime environment
would also be an advantage.

If you are comfortable supporting change activities, including continuous improvement
methodologies and occasional project support, and possess effective time management and
communication skills, we invite you to join us in our mission to enhance the safety and
security of our oceans.

In return

UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are
career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From
flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave
allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard
to beat.
