Offer Description
A post-doctoral research position is available at the IRCP as part of the ANR SCINAPS (Scintillating NanoComposite Sensors for enhanced detection) project. The aim of this project is to develop new nanocomposite scintillators based on the association of plastic scintillators with halide nanoparticles. The candidate will be in charge for the synthesis and characterisation of new rare earth-doped halide nanoparticles. The main objective will be to develop a methodology for producing nanoparticles of controlled size while maintaining the highest possible scintillation efficiency.
The main tasks are :
– Development of halide nanoparticles (fluoride, chloride, bromide) of controlled sizes and morphologies
– Structural and spectroscopic characterisation of these nanoparticles
– Autonomy and ability to work as part of a team.
– written and spoken English
The MPOE Group at IRCP (https://www.ircp.cnrs.fr ) is renowned for developing a large range of materials for photonics applications. We are currently looking for an outstanding, creative and highly motivated young post-doctoral researcher to develop highly performant hybrid scintillators based on rare earth doped nanoparticles embedded in polymer. The contract is offered for a period of 12 months that can be extended.
The applicant will be involved in the French national project, SciNapS (Scintillating NanoComposites Sensors for enhanced detection) which consists of evaluating a variety of high-Z nanomaterials for the design of polymer nanocomposite scintillators for high-energy sensitization. SciNapS project will gather three academic teams (IRCP, French Nuclear Agency CEA, LLB), a start-up company, and an industrial leader.
