Position Summary:
This position provides a great opportunity to lead a team of 25-30 staff members in providing a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff. An individual who has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task daily will be successful in supporting our division’s values of truth, respect, excellence, teamwork, and integrity.
Responsible for supervising and managing comprehensive custodial maintenance operations for large complex of academic, residential, research, and teaching buildings on campus. Provides highly effective leadership and training of 25 or more custodians in unionized work environment. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with staff and departments in a fast-paced service environment. Manages an extensive equipment and supply inventory. Administers to principles and language of UAW contract and department work rules. Must be available 24/7 for facilities emergencies. The department strives to maintain a clean, attractive, healthy, and safe environment for all faculty staff, and students.
This position is for Night Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

We Require These Qualifications:

Exceptional management and supervisory skills required.
-
Substantial experience in effectively supervising employees (3-5 years) is required, preferably in a custodial maintenance operation.

An associate degree or an equivalent combination of college coursework, high school diploma, and at least 3-5 years’ relevant experience.

Understanding of custodial equipment.
-
Aptitude and proven ability to effectively manage a large group of employees in a highly diverse environment.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
-
Ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
-
Must be able to walk several miles per day, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
-
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
-
Must be able to work unusual hours in facilitating special events or projects and be able to respond to campus emergencies on 24-hour basis, including weekends, 7 days a week.
