Job description
Our client is an international leader in the design, manufacture, installation, and project management of retail displays. Working with many blue-chip companies and high street retailers, they provide innovative products, services and solutions, while exceeding expectations with their quality and value.
We’re working with them on several roles, including a Design Engineer. You will be responsible for designing and developing innovative, cost-effective solutions for varied market sectors. As well as identifying cost saving opportunities for existing designs.
Job Role
Use 3D CAD packages to design and develop innovative Retail Display solutions in both sheet metal and timber
Drive projects through the company from conception to engineering release, providing subsequent support for production delivery
Provide all required design information, including bills of materials and work instructions
Assist with cost estimations and tender cost analysis, to ensure competitive bids are submitted and products are delivered at the submitted cost
Lead design reviews, ensuring products are robust and designed for manufacturing and value engineering ideas are realised in a timely manner
Project manage the sourcing of engineering prototypes / customer samples
Manage engineering change and non-conformance
Check engineering release packs for drawing/model inconsistencies
Identify existing designs, where value engineering opportunities exist
Lead and participate in new product development reviews
Lead and participate in various meetings; internally, with suppliers and customers
Site visits (both in the UK and overseas)
Skills and Experience
A relevant design degree (or equivalent)
Competent in the use of 3D design packages (such as Solidworks, Solid Edge or similar)
3D rendering experience would be an advantage (3Ds Max or similar)
Self-motivated, with a positive outlook and friendly approach
Able to multi-task
Excellent organisational skills
