EuRIC is seeking an experienced Policy Advisor to join our dynamic team in Brussels as of April 2024. As a Policy Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing EuRIC’s policy initiatives. You will collaborate closely with our members and other stakeholders, to analyze, develop, and implement effective policies in alignment with our vision and objectives.

EuRIC is the voice of the European recycling industry and gathers the vast majority of national recycling federations and leading recycling companies. The Confederation represents about 5,500+ recycling companies – from market leaders to SMEs – generating an aggregated annual turnover of about 95 billion EUR by treating various waste streams such as household or industrial & commercial waste including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, electronic waste, end-of-life vehicles, packaging, end-of-life tyres, textiles as well as construction & demolition waste. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze relevant political and legal developments in Europe with a focus on paper & textile recycling.
  • Develop policy statements, positions, and responses to public consultations by incorporating input from members and relevant data.
  • Advocate for EuRIC’s positions before European institutions and in relevant forums and events.
  • Coordinate and lead relevant committees and working group activities.

Desired profile

  • Hold a university degree (master or equivalent) in political sciences, law, or a related field.
  • Proficient in English; proficiency in additional European languages is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adeptness in public speaking.
  • Strong writing and synthesizing skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and readiness to travel internationally as needed.

Professional experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in EU affairs.
  • Experience in engaging with EU institutions, advocacy groups, or regulatory agencies is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in policy and regulatory issues relevant to the recycling industry (e.g., waste legislation, circular economy) is advantageous.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
