The Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Senior Budget Analyst to support developing and sustaining standard and ad hoc reporting capacity related to financial management and budgeting. This person will do so by using best practices in data-informed decision making and modern business intelligence and financial reporting solutions to design, implement and manage financial reports and dashboards. This role will provide support for and recommendations on the development, implementation and management of financial reporting tools and strategies that will enhance and sustain timely and accurate reports and analyses that improve the College’s short and long-term fiscal and operational planning.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business with at least 3 years of experience in a financial reporting and analytical role or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Experience applying basic accounting principles, financial reconciliation, and analysis in a professional setting, including translating common finance and business questions into analytical solutions.

Proficiency in the development of analyses using reporting and business intelligence solutions such as QuickSight, Tableau, OAS, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power BI for Excel or similar tools.

Demonstrated success implementing new dashboards and reports that meet common business/financial needs (variances, trends, summaries, insights, budgets) both independently and collaboratively.

Expert level proficiency in Excel, including, but not limited to, pivot tables and complex Excel formulas.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while meeting tight deadlines. Ability to help establish realistic goals and deliver work on schedule. Must be comfortable working in an environment where change in process is the norm.
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in public administration, business administration or finance.

At least 5 years of experience in a financial reporting and analytical role, or equivalent.

Experience in a fund accounting, higher education, or similar complex financial environment.

Experience in common Cornell and related business systems including, but not limited to, Kuali Financial System, Oracle BI, QuickSight, Tableau, Workday, Longview and other relevant systems.

Project management experience with a range of projects. For example: large and small in terms of complexity, short and long in duration, independent and collaborative.

Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello or Smartsheet.

Experience with VBA, Microsoft Power Automate, or Python or other data and workflow automation tools.
