A competition is open for the award of a Research Grant within the scope of the BioComp 3.0 project (PRR-C05-i03-I-000224), financed by Investment C05-i03 – Research and innovation agenda for the sustainability of agriculture, food and agroindustry No. 18/C05-i03/2022, under the following conditions:
I. Scientific Area: Computer Engineering
II. Admission requirements: Candidate enrolled in the 2nd Cycle in Computer Engineering, preferably with experience in Blockchain technologies.
III. Work plan: The work to be developed in the context of the BioComp 3.0 project falls within Activity 5.1.6 – Dematerialization of the Production Control Process, whose central objective is the dematerialization of the production processes of biological organic compounds, through the valorization of water hyacinth waste. In particular, the following tasks will be developed:
1. Identification, modeling and analysis of the production process, in order to identify monitoring and dematerialization opportunities;
2. Definition of “smart contracts” that capture the relevant aspects of the activities/tasks carried out in the context of the production process, aiming to establish the technological bases that ensure the control and traceability of this process;
3. Development of a DApp, based on a Blockchain infrastructure, that supports the interaction necessary to record the different acts of the process and provides appropriate monitoring tools.
IV. Applicable legislation and regulations: Research Fellow Statute in its current wording and Research Grant Regulations of the University of Madeira.
V. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering of the University of Madeira, under the scientific guidance of Professor/Doctor Leonel Domingos Telo Nóbrega.
SAW. Duration of the scholarship(s): The scholarship will last for 12 months. The scholarship contract may be renewed for a maximum of 19 months.
VII. Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €930.98, according to the table of scholarship values awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Table-de-Valores-SMM_2023… ).
VIII. Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: Analysis of the Curriculum Vitae (CV), technical skills relevant to the position and execution of the project (CT), previous professional experience or scientific production relevant to the area of interest of the project (CP), and interview (EV), with the respective valuation of: 40% CV + 20% CT + 10% CP + 30% EV.

X. Method of publishing/notifying results:
The admission lists as well as the results of each selection method and final ordering lists will be published on the page of the Human Resources Unit – Scholarship Center of the University of Madeira, http://urh.uma.pt/ , being the candidate notified via email.
XI. Application deadline and form of submission of applications:
a) Applications can be submitted within 10 working days following the publication of the Notice;
b) Applications must be formalized by sending an application letter accompanied by the following documents: Letter of Motivation, Curriculum Vitae, and Certificate of Qualifications and Proof of enrollment in the 2nd cycle of studies.
