Student Success and Well-Being Office of Undergraduate Admissions:

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions supports the university in meeting its strategic enrollment goals and fulfilling the UCF Strategic Plan. It is responsible for coordinating the identification, recruitment, admission and enrollment of all undergraduate first-time-in-college, transfer, non-degree, dual enrollment, early admission and non-Florida public institution transient students. The office leverages the UCF brand to market, communicate and engage with broadly diverse, talented, and academically qualified students who will enrich our community and achieve academic and personal excellence.

The Opportunity:

Student Success and Well-Being Office of Undergraduate Admissions is seeking an Admissions Assistant. This position has the total responsibility of providing excellent customer service. The staff in these positions are cross-trained so that they learn various responsibilities within the Admissions Assistant positions in this department.

UCF has a limited remote work arrangement policy, contingent upon work assignments and performance of the employee.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes new and reactivation applications from prospective undergraduate students. This includes determining the academic classifications, residency for tuition purposes, corresponding with applicants regarding incomplete information, building and updating student files. This requires a working knowledge of state regulations for the classification of Florida residency for tuition purposes, including USCIS rules pertaining to documentation of international status in the US.

  • Inputs and verifies confidential personal and academic information for undergraduate applicants in the Student Information system including initial applications, reactivations, transcripts, test scores, degrees earned and or expected, financial documents, recommendation letters, disability, and immunization documents, as well as other miscellaneous documents received. This requires extensive knowledge of various coding procedures determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as well as the university community.

  • Electronically requests transcripts as appropriate and necessary.

  • Matches documentation to applicant files as received.

  • Posts admission decisions to PeopleSoft for applicants as well as reviews and mails decision related correspondence with appropriate enclosures.

  • Authorizes and releases Undergraduate Admissions holds as appropriate.

  • Processes various change of application requests including, but not limited to, majors, addresses, social security numbers, classification, residency status, etc.

  • Answers telephone inquiries dealing with applicants, students, parents, counselors, and members of the UCF community.

  • Responds to callers regarding admission process and student document status.

  • Directly trains OPS/CWS staff assigned to each specific area of responsibility.

  • Other duties as assigned, which may include duties from other Admissions Assistant job descriptions.

  • Reviews high school transcripts to determine completion of foreign language requirement and class rank/size.

  • Reviews and evaluates high school and college transcripts to determine appropriate academic classification which could include CLEP, AP, IB, AICE, military and international credit in addition to traditional transfer credit.

  • Must have working knowledge of university policy regarding transfer of credit.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education environment, preferably in Undergraduate Admissions.

  • Familiarity with college and high school transcripts.

  • Familiarity with undergraduate academic levels and credentials.
