About the Department

The Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) is a central team dedicated to the provision of critical immigration advice to all staff and students at Goldsmiths. In a climate where immigration requirements are constantly changing and ever complex, the post holder will play an integral role in ensuring that Goldsmiths can maintain its visa sponsor licenses, and that the IAS can positively contribute towards the enhancement of the staff and student experience. 

About the role

This role will concentrate mainly on the delivery of visa sponsorship compliance, though the role holder will be expected to contribute towards the delivery of effective visa advice provisions in collaboration with Student Services. The overall purpose of the role is to be manage the administration of the College’s attendance monitoring system. The role will also support the institution in being able to continue to recruit international students and staff and complying with UKVI sponsor license requirements. The post holder will also be involved in informing, advising and engaging with key colleagues across the institution to ensure that the substantial risks associated with non-compliance of UKVI regulations are mitigated.

About the candidate 

We require a motivated and a dynamic individual, who will have experience in compliance in an education setting and be able to work towards developing knowledge and expertise in ensuring UKVI sponsorship compliance. You should be able to work effectively within a team as well as independently and can deal with varying customer needs. The Immigration Compliance Officer will perform a key role in the team and should be up to date with immigration rules, policies and processes to meet UKVI Student Route requirements and other more general immigration compliance and advice requirements relating to the sponsoring of international students and staff. The ability to be flexible and react to change in a fast-paced environment is important. You will have good and confident communication skills to liaise directly with students and staff when having one to one meetings or delivering presentations to key stakeholders.
