Job Description

IDUN Centre of Excellence is actively seeking a talented and highly skilled bioengineering backgrounded research assistant for an exciting part-time position lasting 6 months. If you possess a strong background in bioengineering and/or biophysics and are driven to apply your theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, this role offers an exceptional opportunity for growth. As a valued member of our dermal atomic force microscope (DAFM) team, your primary focus will be on analysing nanostructure of skin samples with biophysical approaches. This pivotal role will involve collaborating closely with our dedicated team and collaborators, participating in brainstorming sessions, and contributing to the improvement and optimization of our DAFM analysis. We are looking for an action-oriented individual who thrives on achieving results and is eager to take the initiative. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Validate DAFM-based methods for skin type determination.
  • Analyse skin samples at a cellular level.
  • Develop and optimize a database for an AI model for skin diagnosis
  • Construct a database for statistics, analysis, and visualization.

As a formal qualification, you must have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 
The period of employment is 0.5 year (6 months). Starting date is at earliest 1st of April 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a part-time position (20 hours/week).

About IDUN
Within the framework of IDUN, we have extensively explored engineered micro-encapsulated pharmaceutical compounds and more advanced oral drug delivery concepts in order to enable seeding of probiotics, delivery of vaccines and enhanced systemic uptake of e.g. peptide therapeutics such as insulin. In addition, we have focused on developing fabrication methods that are suited for mass production of micro- and macroscale devices for the gastrointestinal tract. We are also working on a gut sampling concept with different macro-devices. The candidate will be a part of the IDUN center of excellence, led by Prof. Anja Boisen at DTU Department of HealthTechnology. IDUN is a highly cross-disciplinary research center with over 40 members, that focuses on development of micro and nanotechnology-based sensors, detection systems, drug delivery and gut sampling devices.
