The Liverpool Screen School, part of LJMU’s Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the departments of: Film Studies, Journalism and Media Production. 

The Screen School is developing its strategic priorities in research, postgraduate provision internationalisation, public engagement, and enterprise activity.  Reporting to the Programme Leader, you will contribute to these developments, whilst also undertaking teaching and administrative duties across the Media Production portfolio (BAhons Media Production, MA Documentary, MA Immersive Media). You will be joining an exciting, industry-focused team delivering contemporary programmes training the next generation of content creators. 

Current areas of industry practice/research interests in the department include: 360 non-fiction productions for social impact, short-form fiction and non-fiction, long-form non-fiction, live immersive event design, Extended Realities, creative industries technologies, transformative education design and more. 

The city boasts a vibrant culture and LJMU is proud of its many connections with local media and arts organisations, including Liverpool Film Office, Lime Pictures, ITV and the BBC The Everyman and Playhouse, The Unity Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, The Liverpool Philharmonic and The Liverpool Tate.

The post is based in Liverpool and you will be expected to be available on site. Please note that this post is open to a job share.

The Liverpool Screen School seeks a highly motivated person to work in the Media Production department, with expertise and production experience in the fields of Multimedia and XR content (MR, AR, VR etc.) with some experience of legacy production techniques (TV/Film/Audio etc.).

You will teach; Mixed Realities, Digital Disruption, and Immersive Storytelling at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels covering a range of technical skills as well as offering an area of specialisation in one or more of the following: AR/VR/MR, Games Engines (Unity/Unreal) for moving image production, Tools for Immersive Media Development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research in these exciting new fields, along with the development and production of both physical and digital immersive content outputs. Knowledge of industry-standard technical skills to produce interactive/multiplatform/immersive work is essential along with an understanding of traditional production workflows and delivery.
