GENERAL INFORMATION

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) invites qualified consultants to facilitate a 3-day Pacific Regional Staff Retreat in 2024.

The consultant is expected to achieve the following objectives during the retreat:

  • Work with the Retreat Organizing to strengthen team awareness and understanding of GGGI’s vision, mission, and values, emphasizing their application in the Pacific context through the Pacific Regional Strategy 2023-2027.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and learning to enhance the team’s capacity for delivering high-quality, on-time, and value-for-money outcomes.
  • Foster a team ethos characterized by accountability, integrity, understanding, respect, and mutual support.

Document key discussions, outcomes and actionable recommendations emerging from the retreat.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Pacific Regional Retreat 2024

The Pacific Regional Retreat will bring together approximately 40 GGGI staff from around the Pacific, both virtually and in-person, to reflect on and tailor solutions for scaling up impact and quality delivery of projects across the region and the organization. The 3-day retreat aims to strengthen team cohesion, enhance awareness of GGGI’s vision, mission, and values, and promote the effective implementation of the Pacific Regional Strategy 2023-2027.

The objectives of GGGI’s 2024 Pacific Regional Retreat are to:

  • Strengthen team awareness and understanding of GGGI’s vision, mission, and values, and how these can be implemented in the Pacific through the PRS.
  • Facilitate peer learning and knowledge sharing to catalyze the delivery of high-quality projects and deliver value for money.
  • Foster a team ethos characterized by integrity, respect, transparency, accountability, teamwork, and mutual support.
  • Embrace the uniqueness of the Pacific Spirit of Partnership and encourage useful connections and learnings amongst staff.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT

  • Work with the Retreat Organizing to strengthen team awareness and understanding of GGGI’s vision, mission, and values, emphasizing their application in the Pacific context through the Pacific Regional Strategy 2023-2027.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and learning to enhance the team’s capacity for delivering high-quality, on-time, and value-for-money outcomes.

  • Document key discussions, outcomes and actionable recommendations emerging from the retreat.
DELIVERABLES AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Deliverables

The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Submitting a brief Inception Report (up to 3 pages) outlining the Retreat approach;
  • Leading and co-leading the delivery of approximately 16-20 retreat interactive sessions aligned with the retreat objectives, as per the Retreat agenda, including facilitating group discussions, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and team-building activities, including 5-6 brief icebreaker exercises;
  • Producing a Draft Report: A comprehensive report (in Microsoft Word, up to 10 pages in length for main content, not inclusive of Annexes) containing the following:
  • Executive summary (1 page)
  • Background & context (1 page)
  • Session summaries (3-5 pages)
  • Feedback, Learnings and Recommendations (2-3 pages)
  • Annexes of data collection tools, list of participants, links to data sources, and other references as needed
  • Presenting draft report findings (in PowerPoint slides) ;
  • Producing a Final Report incorporating the feedback provided by GGGI within 14 days from the event.

Notes

  • The consultant will report to the Pacific Regional Retreat Organizing Committee, with weekly updates with GGGI (via meeting or email) on the progress of deliverables and potential limitations.
  • The consultant’s accommodation at the Retreat venue will be covered by GGGI, with check in on Sunday 25th to checkout on Wednesday 28th February, with lunches and breakfasts included from Monday 26th – Wednesday 28th February. The consultant will need to cover own dinners and incidental costs.
  • All relevant technical papers, reports, analysis, transcripts, and other documents prepared from the start to the end of the assignment shall be attached as an annex to the Final Report. All outputs must be in English.
  • The consultant shall submit the deliverables electronically in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint. Any Microsoft Word PowerPoint outputs must be approved by GGGI to be considered finalized.
  • All of the consultant’s outputs developed and used for this assignment will be transferred to and become the property of GGGI.

Timeline

The retreat is scheduled for 26 – 28th February 2024. The consultant must be available for facilitation delivery on site at the retreat venue near Nadi, Fiji from Sunday 25th – Wednesday 28th February.

The following is the tentative timeline and payment schedule for deliverables. GGGI shall pay the consultant in 30 days upon submission of satisfactory deliverables on or before the due date specified in the deliverable details or any other date as may be agreed in writing by GGGI.

EXPERTISE REQUIRED
  • A university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in a discipline related to green growth, entrepreneurship, sustainability, economics, business, international development/cooperation, management, organizational culture or human resources;
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience in one or more of the above-mentioned disciplines.
    • Demonstrated experience in facilitating similar staff retreats or workshops.
    • Expertise in team building, knowledge exchange, and organizational development.
    • Familiarity with the principles of green growth and sustainable development in the Pacific region is preferred.
    • Strong analytical and report writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and concise manner in English.
    • Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint software.
ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION

  • Concise cover letter highlighting relevant experience, daily rate/budget and confirming availability to complete deliverables by the required deadline (maximum 1 page);
  • CV highlighting relevant qualifications and experience;
  • 1-2 writing samples of the applicant’s previously completed similar reports to be uploaded or emailed to [email protected].

Selection method/process

  • GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study, work experience and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to GGGI’s goals. If your application is shortlisted, you will be asked to participate in a competency-based interview.

Timeline

  • Please note that all deliverables must be submitted by 15th March 2024. The consultant must be available to complete the full scope of work by this date.

Cover Letter, and CV must be sent in English. A consortium, or a firm may not be engaged for the individual consultant assignment.
