Under the overall guidance of WHO Representative to Myanmar, direct supervision of Medical Officer -Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and close coordination with central Expanded Programme on Immunization (cEPI), MoHS, the National Technical Officer (Coverage and Equity) will provide technical support to cEPI to strengthen routine immunization services to resume back to the pre COVID situation and to ensure equitable support of immunization services to all eligible children. The routine tasks are performed independently within detailed guidelines. Overall supervision is focused on the successful delivery of client oriented and efficient implementation of operational services.

The National Technical Officer will work under the direct supervision of Medical Officer (EPI), WHO and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Prepare technical documents on strengthening of routine immunization, in line with National Guidelines and WHO recommendations and technical guidance.
- Provide strategic guidance to rapidly improve immunization coverage particularly among high-risk populations by identifying gaps and undertaking strategic programmatic actions.
- Collect, manage, analyze and strategically use immunization related data from different streams such as administrative immunization coverage, survey data, program monitoring, VPD and AEFI surveillance etc. and translate this information into evidence for programmatic action and policy making.
- Assist cEPI in the development of training materials such as training modules, IEC materials and training guidelines.
- Contribute to implementation and evaluation of training activities at national and sub national levels in support of routine immunization, including the adaptation of appropriate supporting training materials to local requirements.
- Assist cEPI and State/Regional Health Department for capacity building of health staff for immunization service delivery at their respective areas according to the national guidelines.
- Assist the State/Region and townships in preparing routine immunization microplans.
- Support the assigned Region/ State for preparedness assessment for catch up, vaccination campaigns, new vaccine introduction and any other pilot intervention planned in assigned state/ Region.
- Coordinate with State/Regional Immunization teams to keep track on vaccine availabilities and stock-outs.
- Coordination with different partners including UNICEF and other agencies on strengthening immunization activities.
- Undertake monitoring and supervision of immunization activities, catch-up vaccination, campaigns, field visits to ensure safe and correct injection practices including effective IPC measures to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission.
- Support immunization in emergencies where required.
- Facilitate and support the feedback and review meetings in assigned state/ Region
- Perform any other additional duty that may be assigned by WR Myanmar.
- To submit assignment report quarterly
Work Relations and Partnerships:
- The National Technical Officer (NTO) provides continuous technical support to cEPI in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the immunization activities. The NTO also collaborates with partners such as UNICEF, other UN agencies and stakeholders. Support the partner agencies in moving the Immunization Agenda 2030.
Impact of functions:
- The NTO plays a key role in strengthening the immunization system through delivery of services related to collaborative country programmes. NTO ensures to implement EPI activities timely and effectively to achieve immunization coverage resume back to the pre COVID status. The NTO also ensures for equitable access to the immunization services by all eligible children, regardless of geographical, social, economic and other factors.

- First university degree in Medicine, Health or Health-related sciences, biological sciences
Professional experience and knowledge:

- At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of Immunization programme, including experience in programme/project implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the programmes.
Other skills:
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
Language Skills:
- Expert knowledge of English and Myanmar.
