The opportunity
We are seeking an accomplished HE professional to be the Interim Director of Creative Computing Institute. This is an interim appointment for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility to extend up to 18 months maximum, offering a pivotal role in navigating a transformative period for the institution.
The UAL Creative Computing Institute (CCI) was established in 2018 with an ambitious plan to deliver a whole ecology of creative computing at Europe’s largest provider of creative education. It is an unique unit within UAL delivering teaching, research and knowledge exchange in collaboration with the university’s colleges.
The CCI is becoming an established community with a world class research team, which has secured significant research funding and has also developed new undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses aligned to UAL’s research mission, establishing Computer Science, Data Science and Robotics as new disciplines within the UAL portfolio.
Having accomplished the initial strategic development phase, the CCI needs to focus on current delivery plans and undertake a strategic re-fresh to support the next phase of development.
This leadership role is offered on an interim basis with three specific objectives:
- To lead the strategic re-fresh of CCI, working with the CCI and University executive team to refine and agree the next development phase.
- To lead the operational management and delivery of all CCI’s activity, ensuring the teams are supported to meet agreed KPIs.
- Support transition to permanent leadership arrangements.
