The Human Resources Specialist provides transactional and operational support to the staff, faculty and student employees of the College of Arts and Sciences, the university’s largest college on campus.
Under the guidance of the the HRBP and HR Consultants, the HR Specialist will apply their experience in human resources to HRIS processing (Workday), troubleshooting employee issues, providing support to onboarding/offboarding and other employment processes and providing reporting and basic analytics.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Performing administrative actions both inside and outside of Workday related to employee hires and job changes
- Reviewing job information in Workday to determine appropriate system actions
- Initiating job and compensation related actions in Workday and ServiceNow, including Period Activity Pay (PAP), pay rate changes, additional pay, leaves, FTE changes, academic appointments, job requisitions, terminations, and supervisory org changes
- Writing and sending HR-related appointment and notification letters and assisting with data collection efforts and HR administrative projects
- Collaborating with Global Services, HR Consultants, hiring managers and employees to support visa processing
- Maintaining electronic personnel records in OnBase
- Researching and resolving Workday transaction questions and answering routine HR questions
- Participating in HR team meetings and effectively communicating with colleagues, employees, and managers to provide high quality service
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in an HR Generalist role supporting employees and managers. Experience using an HR information system, preferably Workday.

*The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
The work location for this position is remote within the state of Ohio with the expectation that the person in this role will attend meetings on the Columbus Campus on an as-needed basis (estimated to be 1-2 days per month). Please include a cover letter and resume with your application.
