Brief Position Overview The Academic Services Coordinator provides mid- to high level of support to the Department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology (FSNK) within the College of Education, Health, and Human Development (EHHD).
The purpose of this position is to:
1) advocate student success through proper instruction regarding admission, registration, and graduation protocols and procedures for undergraduate and graduate students;
2) serve as building, telephone and computer program coordinator for the Department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology spaces located in Reid Hall (3rd floor), Harrison and to coordinate with the Student Wellness Center with regard to the Kinesiology Research labs;
3) independently and accurately collect, compile, and analyze data and provide reliable information to assist departmental management with strategic planning in long- and short-term goals with regards to curriculum offerings, student enrollment, student persistence, and faculty workloads.

Position Details

General Statement The Department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology at Montana State University is located in the College of Education, Health and Human Development (EHHD). The Departmental mission is to enrich human well-being through teaching, research, and outreach.
The Academic Services Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day operations of a robust department with a wide range of duties. The person in this position will be required to work independently with little supervision, to perform administrative and program coordination tasks. The Program Coordinator will efficiently orchestrate multiple priorities and deadlines utilizing professional knowledge, judgment and skills to make decisions, and clearly communicate the priorities and views of the department and programs in a clear and concise manner.
Duties and Responsibilities Program Administration

  • Support academic undergraduate and graduate program needs in the department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology (FSNK)
    • Organize, coordinate and maintain course schedules for all undergraduate and graduate academic programs in FSNK.
    • Organize, coordinate and maintain the catalog for all undergraduate and graduate academic programs in FSNK.
    • Work with the department head and members of FSNK on undergraduate and graduate academic programming such as course scheduling, undergraduate catalog, CIM processes, assessment reports, course descriptions, scheduling of space for academic courses and lab sections, and other academic tasks.
    • Work in collaboration with the Academic Services Coordinator for the departments of Human Development and Community Health and Counseling within the College of EHHD to support undergraduate and graduate programs.
    • Work with academic advisors within the College of EHHD to support undergraduate programs.
    • Prepare academic undergraduate and graduate program materials.
    • Support graduate programs in the Department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology including management of applications, program of study, comprehensive exams, and graduation paperwork.
    • Work in with the graduate school to assist in all graduate processes.
    • Prepare academic graduate program materials and email inquiries.
    • Organize and store, and maintain, paperwork.
    • Manage sensitive data.

Communications

  • Produce and disseminate promotional materials for all undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Maintain and update department and program websites and listservs for all undergraduate and graduate academic programs.
  • Organization and reporting of student and program data for all undergraduate and graduate academic programs.
  • Maintain and update department and program handbooks and policy manuals.
  • Use varied professional communication skills to represent department and undergraduate and graduate academic programs.

Technology Support and Building Supervision

  • Coordination with UIT on purchasing and technology support for the Department of Food Systems, Nutrition and Kinesiology.
  • Supervision of third floor in Reid; coordination with Reid building supervisor.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and progressively responsible administrative experienceor equivalent education
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, deadlines and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet software, web-based communications, and social media.
