The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) is looking for a detailed and organized innovative professional for the position of Assistant Director, Experiential Learning and Partner Residencies . OEL is responsible for integrating regional, national, and international business projects in school programs and courses; developing and administering dynamic domestic and international experiences; and supporting other curricular and co-curricular experiential learning initiatives.
This is new role within a growing office and will support the implementation of experiential learning courses and short-term residencies hosting at the Carey Business School’s Harbor East, Baltimore campus. The role will work closely with the Associate Director to plan and implement MS degree project-based experiential learning and a growing number of hosted partner residencies.

The Assistant Director will be a modified hybrid position working 2 days each week in the office and the remainder of the week remotely. Occasional early morning, evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate program needs. This role reports to the Associate Director, Experiential Learning and Partner Residencies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Course Logistics Planning and Support (60%)
- Assist faculty on incorporating experiential learning best practices into course design and execution.
- Collaborate with faculty to assess project needs, parameters, and outreach strategy for experiential learning course projects.
- Identify potential corporate project partners, conduct outreach, and secure projects for experiential learning courses.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and project sponsors.
- Assist in developing office’s partnership strategy and align with other Carey offices.
Partner Residencies (30%)
- Support Associate Director in the development and implementation of 2-4 short term partner residencies a year.
- Support the office Director in developing new residency proposals and business development.
Other (10%)
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge and appreciation for the following critical business concepts: entrepreneurship, health care, business analytics, leadership, risk management, and technology.
- Knowledge of experiential learning concepts and practices.
- Program and project management, self-starter mindset, and ability to work through ambiguity and take initiative.
- Knowledge of academic program development, and corresponding program management and administrative functions.
- Knowledge of program budget development and management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a varied constituency including faculty, staff in multiple departments, students, entrepreneurs, executives, and industry representatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for corresponding, analysis, information storage, and presentation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Three years progressively responsible experience in program administration in an academic environment.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
- Five years or more related experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated relationship development and management experience.
- Strategic planning experience.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
