The Role
The School of Computer Science and Mathematics seeks to appoint an inspirational Lecturer in Cyber Security, with a broad range of skills across the field including threat intelligence, ethical hacking, digital forensics, cryptography as well as knowledge of artificial intelligence methods for threat mitigation and other cyber security challenges. The knowledge of emerging technologies, such as blockchain, quantum cryptography, cyber-physical systems, 5G/6G security etc – would be an advantage.
You will join a thriving academic community, leading the cyber security agenda at Kingston University, through its Cyber and Digital Innovation Hub as part of the new Town House Strategy of the University. Students in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics have full access to the state-of-the-art cyber security laboratories and software to pursue academic excellence in research and education in areas of computer science including cyber security, networks, user experience design, games, artificial intelligence and data science – across two departments: Networks and Digital Media and Computer Science.
The Person
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate knowledge in the relevant areas of computer science and will be ready to adopt and practice innovative pedagogic methods and develop their research potential and professional practice to produce outputs of the standard required for REF submission. It is essential that the candidate has a doctoral level qualification and appropriate research and professional skills in a relevant area of computer science.
The provision of high-quality, student-centred, innovative teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be the main focus underpinning excellence demonstrated in the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity Education, awarded a Silver Award by the NCSC, an educational arm of GCHQ. Our flagship MSc in Network and Information Security course enjoys full certification by the NCSC (GCHQ).
By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £43,187 per annum.
