Senior Director of Philanthropic Operations

the National Park Service, Trust for the National Mall brings
expertise, private funding and in-kind support to time-sensitive
restoration and sustainability projects, mobilizes volunteers, and
provides educational opportunities to ensure that the National Mall
endures and evolves as a vibrant space for all. With over 36
million visits annually to the National Mall, combined with aging
infrastructure and the need for better visitor amenities throughout
the park, the Trust is helping the National Park Service tackle the
more than $800 million needed for critical repairs and
improvements.

Brief Position Summary
The Senior Director of Philanthropic Operations will provide
leadership and oversight in prospect research, donor stewardship,
gift processing, and database management. The Senior Director of
Philanthropic Operations will hold a leadership role in helping the
organization reach its campaign and organizational goals. The
Senior Director of Philanthropic Operations will work report to the
Vice President of Philanthropy, will serve as a member of the
Philanthropy leadership team, and will work in a collaborative,
interdisciplinary environment with the Communications, Operations,
Programs, and Projects teams.
Starting Salary is $160,000
Responsibilities:
- Provide broad leadership and administrative oversight in the
planning and implementation and improvement of
functions, operations and resources within the
Philanthropy team. - Oversee development of policies, such as database policies,
counting guidelines, etc. - Work with VP of Philanthropy, Senior Director of
Philanthropy, and Chief Operating Officer
on accurate revenue forecasting and tracking
progress against Campaign goals for Board reporting; handles
monthly and annual gift reconciliation. - Develops analytics on various strategies
for leveraging constituent data to advance the work of
the organization, research trends and improve ways of
operation. Provides technical advice, forecasting,
training and reports as needed to develop and measure progress
toward goals. - Develop and implement a moves management system to track donor
engagement and update donor information and activity into
Salesforce accurately and comprehensively. - Assists in preparation and management of Philanthropy team
budget. - Oversee the scope of work and project cadence laid
out in professional services agreements tied with Philanthropy team
operations. - Manage the Trust’s Philanthropy operations team and
responsibilities including prospect research, gift processing,
donor records and reporting. - Manage gift agreements, pledges, gift acknowledgements and
corresponding processes to
ensure timely and accurate; systematize gift
policies and procedures. - Optimize database functionality to maximize reporting,
fundraising results, and effective pipeline management. - Establish and implement best practices in data management for
prospect management and donor stewardship. - Oversee development and implementation of comprehensive donor
stewardship program ensuring donors at all levels are informed of
the impact of their philanthropy, recognition and benefits are
fulfilled and consistently promotes engagement with donors. - Serve as liaison with Communications team leadership on
communications to donors, including the annual stewardship
report. - Direct supervision of Data Support Specialist, Manager of
Stewardship, Manager of Prospect Research, and potential
recruitment of additional team members to expand
operation and efficiency. - Work with Director of Special Events to ensure focus on donor
and prospect engagement. - Operate with integrity and in full compliance with the Trust’s
business practices. - Partner closely with the Communications team and front-line
fundraisers to produce creative and relevant content for both
donor-related mass communications and individualized
communications, ensuring that all tell the entire Trust
story. - Actively participate in building organizational and
team culture aligned with the Trust’s values. - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in non-profit operations role including
managing budgets. - Proficiency with database management systems, including
Salesforce. - Strategic thinker who can activate a plan and see it through to
completion. - Passion for and commitment to the Trust’s mission and
values. - Grace and poise under pressure, and enjoys working in a
fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a daily commitment to
growth.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (Required).
Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with a successful track
record in nonprofit operations management (Required). - Experience working on a capital campaign, while not necessary,
is a plus.
