Better Health Network has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Oral Health Therapist (OHT) Level 2 with a passion to help and educate the community to improve their oral health.

Joining our friendly welcoming community dental team, the Oral Health Therapist works alongside other dentists, OHT’s, dental therapists, prosthetists and dental assistants to provide high quality, efficient and effective dental services, including preventative care and emergency services, to eligible patients within the community. Our supportive administration team consists of receptionists, practice manager, and dental assistant team leader at all four sites.

The opportunity

Multiple positions available at Parkdale, Prahran, South Melbourne, Bentleigh East and outreach team on a permanent full time or part time basis.

You will work 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday with no late nights or weekend work required.

This role works in outreach services within the Smile Squad program and provides in-house clinical care. The Oral Health Therapist (OHT) Level 2 is responsible for the provision of clinical duties within the scope of the Dental Practice Board of Australia’s Code of Practice for Oral Health Therapists.

Our team has a focus in delivering better oral health for the local community, making a real difference to our patient’s lives. BHN Dental Service consists of a longstanding team of 80 staff members across 4 sites. Some of our dental team have been working with the local community for over 25 years. The purpose of this position is to provide dental services to eligible clients both in a clinical setting and outreach services as part of the Smile Squad Program.

As the Oral Health Therapist your responsibilities will include

  • Provide high quality, efficient and effective oral health care within the scope of a community based public dental service.
  • Provide oral health assessment and treatment planning, diagnosis of conditions of the oral cavity, intra- oral radiography, and treatment planning.
  • Provision of preventive strategies and directions for oral health
  • Provide dental treatment within scope of practice in line with dental treatment plan.
  • Provide treatment where necessary to focus on long term health goals.
  • Dependent on experience level act as a supervisor mentoring junior team members.

About You

  • Recognised qualification as an Oral Health Therapist.
  • Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Oral Health Therapist.
  • Previous clinical experience as an Oral Health Therapist.
  • Current Radiation Use License.
  • Current Professional Development requirements as per AHPRA.
  • Current Victorian driver’s license.
  • High level of clinical competence and a demonstrated commitment to the provision of appropriate, high quality dental services with a focus on public health principles.
  • Excellent understanding of infection control procedures
  • Extended/Adult scope of practice – desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Titanium patient management system.
