Context/Reporting line:

Under the general guidance of the Protection Coordinator, the overall supervision of the Protection Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) and the direct supervision of the National Protection Officer, the candidate will perform the following duties:

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Support the implementation of migrant protection activities, including assistance to vulnerable migrants, counter-trafficking case management, and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) activities through a protection centered case management approach. Core activities include, but are not limited to case management including counselling, referrals to protection services and support through legal proceedings, provision of information, and return and reintegration support. Coordinate focus group discussions, workshops, field visits and other program related activities through logistical and operational support.
  2. Identify protection needs and gaps of migrants in vulnerable situations and coordinate a timely and safe referral to specialized protection services in case of need; Support in pre-departure counselling and assistance as well as return travels in coordination with receiving missions.
  1. Timely update data collection tools (MIMOSA) to track the status of implementation of each case and monitor the timely entry of data of the Teams.
  2. Represent IOM in relevant meetings related to protection in the South region in coordination with the supervisor and the HoO.
  3. Support senior management in mapping and establishing private sector partnerships in Basra to provide job opportunities to returnees.
  1. Collect and analyze information on the impact of climate change to human rights and share regularly with senior management.
  2. Map out stakeholders on climate change in governorates in central and southern region and support in developing/reinforcing IOM’s partnership with the stakeholders.
  3. Support in conducting Monitoring and evaluation activities.
  4. Assist in identifying and monitoring the protection context of IDPs in informal settlements, and engage with the relevant communities when needed.
  5. Undertake duty travel as required.
  1. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the programme management.
