Duration: Academic Year (10-month schedule); position begins in the Fall Semester (August 2024)

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville seeks an Assistant Professor to join our School of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Society (LASS). As a member of our faculty, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of students. Check out our campus course catalog page here

Areas of specialization are open, but the successful candidate in this position will have a passion and background in developing and teaching courses that 1) support various 4-year programs (such our B.T. in Criminal Justice or our B.S. in Applied Psychology) or 2) meet SUNY General Education requirements in Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • 5-5 teaching load with service responsibilities and opportunities for winter or summer term courses. Responsibility for teaching introductory U. S. History and Political Science courses.
  • Opportunity to develop and teach upper-division courses in U.S. History and Political Science commensurate with the needs of various degree programs and student interest.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in U.S. History or Political Science, earned by August 2024
  • Background or experience necessary to teach introductory courses in both U.S. History and Political Science. This includes our three-course sequence in U.S. History as well as courses in American National Government and the American Judiciary System.
  • Willingness to teach in multiple modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line (synchronous and asynchronous).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience in multiple modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and fully on-line (synchronous and asynchronous).
  • Experience teaching a diverse, first-generation population of non-majors.
  • Passion and background in developing and teaching courses that 1) support various 4-year programs (such our B.T. in Criminal Justice or our B.S. in Applied Psychology) or 2) meet SUNY General Education requirements in Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice.
