About the organisation

We are a proud Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) with an over 30-year history of delivering sustainable, grassroots services and providing the local community with a vehicle for self-determination. We provide Health, Family, Early Years and Wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the Mallee region of northwest Victoria.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this executive role will focus on the overall strategic, operational direction and management of the Swan Hill and Kerang offices to ensure the achievement of the established strategic priorities within the Mallee district.

This will involve all aspects of the management and service delivery of MDAS, including working collaboratively with the senior management team and providing effective leadership and development of existing and new programs and services.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced leader, capable of leading a dynamic team and bringing an organisation on the journey together.

You will personally demonstrate, through consistent behaviour and understanding, respect for, and compliance with culturally appropriate ways of working with Aboriginal people and their communities. You will be an experienced leader with strong corporate capabilities and high-level communication skills. You will be passionate about making a difference in the life of Aboriginal communities through the delivery of quality and equitable services in Swan Hill and throughout the Mallee district. Ideally, you will have experience in the social services sector and an understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and business development as it relates to community.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to actively lead team development and change management activities that align with organisation core values and strategic intent.
  • Experience in enabling an organisational culture that acknowledges professional competency, personal integrity and credibility and fosters the trust and cooperation of others.
  • Sound business analysis and financial reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of wellbeing issues impacting upon the wellbeing status of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively and positively with a wide variety of external stakeholders, community members and internal staff.

  • A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
  • A current National Police Check.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
