Position description

Are you passionate about European politics and eager to gain experience in a dynamic and multicultural environment? Do you want to contribute to the promotion of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe and beyond? Do you have excellent communication skills and a good command of German and English?

If yes, then you might be the perfect candidate for the Trainee – Political and Communications position at the European Democratic Party (EDP), a centrist political party at European level, composed of 20 parties from 15 European countries.

As a trainee, you will assist the EDP Secretariat in its daily activities, such as:

  • Monitoring the political developments in Germany and other EU countries
  • Drafting press releases, newsletters, social media posts and other communication materials
  • Updating the EDP website and social media channels
  • Organising events, webinars and meetings with EDP members and partners
  • Conducting research and analysis on various topics related to European affairs
  • Supporting the EDP Secretary General and other staff members in their tasks

The traineeship will last for six months, from 1st April to 1st October 2024, and will be based in Brussels, Belgium.

To apply for this position, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of an EU member state or have a valid work permit in Belgium
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in political science, international relations, communication or a related field
  • Have a fluent level of German and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other languages is an asset
  • Have a good knowledge of the European institutions and policies, as well as the EDP’s values and vision
  • Have previous experience or interest in working for a political party or organisation
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Be proactive, flexible and able to work independently and in a team
  • Be available to start the traineeship on 1st April 2024
