Job Summary:

Capability Support’s Family Support Services Advisory Panel is established with the purpose to provide industry and skillset specific advice to the Board of Directors of Cap Support Pty Ltd. Capability’s Board of Directors set strategic goals and priorities to ensure the organisation delivers support in a high-quality manner.

We are seeking multiple experienced and dedicated Advisory Panel Members to support positive outcomes for Capability Support clients through skillset-specific advice and the monitoring, to the extent possible, the quality of service provision at Capability Support.

Responsibilities:

Members of the Advisory Panel will be appointed for a term of 24 months, unless otherwise agreed upon by the member and the Board of Directors. The Advisory Panel will meet four (4) times per year, quarterly, in line with appropriate Board reporting timeframes and strategic planning. Members of the Advisory Panel will be expected to make three (3) meetings minimum per year.

Members will be nominated / appointed according to a skills matrix that is overseen by the Board of Directors and the Advisory Panel.

The functions of the advisory group are:

  • Respond to the Board’s proposed decisions;
  • Respond to requests for information from the Board of Directors.
  • Provide, relevant to your skillset, insight on the strategic direction of Capability Support.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic direction of Capability Support to ensure high quality service provision to children, youth and families.
  • Advise the board on out-of-home Care, child, youth and family specific industry trends.
  • Monitoring, to the extent possible in the limitations of the advisory panel, the quality of service provision at Capability Support and provide advice to the board.
  • Provide a report to the Board of Directors quarterly on the activity of the Advisory Panel.

One member of the Advisory Panel will be appointed to the role of Chairperson. The Advisory Panel will be supported by a Capability Support employee who will act as the Panel Secretary.

Skills:

Members of the Advisory Panel will be nominated/appointed according to a skills matrix that will be developed and overseen by the Board of Directors. We are seeking a diverse range of people to ensure that all skills are covered. These skills may include:

  • Lived experience of OOHC/Statutory Care
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander lived experience
  • Disability sector or NDIS experience
  • Out-of-Home care/statutory Care experience
  • Legal experience
  • HR expertise
  • Financial expertise
  • Governance skillsets
  • Marketing/Business development experience
  • Strategic planning experience

Actual or perceived conflicts of interest must be disclosed and tracked by the Advisory Panel and Board of Directors.

Remuneration:

This role is a paid Advisory Panel position. Remuneration will be set annually by the Board of Directors and will be based on position within the committee group. Remuneration will be provided on a per-meeting basis, including an allowance for travel and adequate preparation for meetings.
