Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic heavy engineering company which is capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world from its manufacturing facilities in Sheffield.

In 2021 the business was acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence so as to secure its role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes and it is currently embarking upon a substantial programme of capital investment to modernise its plant and equipment over the next 10 years.

The Pricing and Commercial Analyst will assist the Sales Management Team (SMT – Sales and BD Director, Head of Sales, Head of Business Development and Bid Manager) to manage pricing decisions, sales performance reporting and major tenders.

The main duties of the role are as follows:

  • Create, maintain and operate a robust process for recording, analysing and advising on pricing strategy
  • Provides supporting data to the c-suite reviews of authorised delegated target margins.
  • Develop, create, maintain and operate regular reporting on Sales and Business Development performance in conjunction with the Sales Management team
  • Support the Sales and Business Development team to prepare, present for approval and submit high value, complex bids
  • Support the Market Intelligence Analyst in competitor analysis, particularly around cost base compared to SFEL
  • Assist in risk assessment for bids
  • Prepare costs and price proposals for major bids for review with the relevant Sales/Business Development Manger

Candidates must have:

  • Excellent data analysis skills, using excel spreadsheets and pivot tables to synthesise data.
  • Ability to summarise and concisely convey critical data to others in the business, through report writing and presentations.
  • The ability to understand financial information including business accounting profit and loss/balance sheets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, CRM and other technical software.
  • The ability to effectively use technology laptop, phone, etc.) to communicate and maintain productivity when travelling is required.
  • Ability to build quality relationships within cross-functional teams.
  • Display problem solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to follow an issue through to its logical conclusion
  • Ability to prioritize effectively whilst having a flexible approach
  • Able to gain unrestricted UK security clearance.
  • A high level of flexibility and adaptability are required to cover the diverse duties under this role

Days/Hours of Work:

Office Hours 07:45 – 16:00 Monday to Friday.
