Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Sponsored Research Administrator – Boca Raton, FL.

The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine is seeking a Sponsored Research Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for pre-award and post-award management that includes, but may not be limited to: proposal preparation, budget development, account maintenance and oversight, reporting, and closeout.  The selected candidate will work closely with the Assistant Director, Research Administration and investigators conducting basic, clinical, and translational research.  The primary goal of this position is to support the timely, effective, and efficient functioning of sponsored funding, and to participate in other strategic initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Proposal preparation, budget development and submissions.

  • Interpret university and sponsor policies and guidelines.

  • Monitor spending on awards for compliance with federal, university, and sponsor regulations.

  • Forecast expenses and provide regular as well as ad hoc financial reports to College and faculty.

  • Assist with progress report submissions, re-budgeting needs, and no-cost extension requests.

  • Assist with quarterly effort reporting and certification.

  • Track grant activity and provide reports to College leadership as needed.

  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Accounting, and other relevant offices within the University.

  • Other sponsored research administration duties and strategic initiatives as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required and two (2) years of appropriate experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred.
Two years of experience preferred.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple assignments in a time-sensitive environment.
Experience with Workday financial management system.
Sound knowledge of federal and NIH policies.
Ability to interpret, communicate and apply financial, regulatory, and administrative guidelines of
funding opportunity announcements.
Strong accounting, financial and analytical skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to analyze financial
data.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.

Salary:

$55,000 – $85,000 per year
Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. including some evenings and weekends as needed.
