Market Garden Youth Position – Beechworth / Corryong

This unique role is divided into two components:

1. Farmer Support Work closely with our Farmer, Food Hub Coordinator and Managing Director in the day-to-day operations of the market gardens: You will get to explore many types of farming and otero parts of the food system.
2. Training Program: Participate in a training program facilitated by VicHealth, designed to enhance your skills, provide networking opportunities, and ensure work readiness.

The Youth Farm Position will be based from two locations in the North East. Murmungee Basin Near Beechworth and Corryong. In the interview we will work out more details based around this depending on where you live. The position does have travel across the region and is multifaceted due to it being an experience based position. It also changes depending on growing season. Key Responsibilities for Market Garden / Food Hub position:

• Support the Farmer in all Farm operations.
• Support for Deliveries, Farmers Markets and all Aspects of the Food Hub
• Support the operations of Acres and Acres CO-OP
• Assist with the logistics of running the Food Hub
• Participate in the development of marketing strategies and operational policies
• A taste of all aspects of small-scale Market Gardening
• Support in events
• Social media and communications
• Become an active member of the Youth Food Network, advocating for local food system transformation.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

• Can take direction
• Self starter
• A keen interest in learning about regenerative food systems
• Willingness to engage in teamwork and community collaboration
• Physical capability to perform farm-site and Food Hub operational tasks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Full-time, fixed-term contract for one year.
• Must hold a current Australian motor vehicle licence and Victorian Working with Children Check.
