Position Description:
Dr. Warren J. Leonard, Lab of Molecular Immunology and the Immunology Center, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), NIH, Bethesda, MD is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work in molecular immunology and/or tumor immunology. The lab is internationally known for work on common g chain family cytokines, discovering the basis of human X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency and other forms of inherited immunodeficiency, and performing ground-breaking work related to IL-2, IL-21, and other common g chain cytokines and engineered cytokines/IL-2 partial agonists. Studies aim to elucidate new activities and regulatory mechanisms, including transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms, and connections to human disease.
The lab has a wealth of transgenic, knockout, and knockin mice and other valuable reagents and uses normal donor and patient cells to elucidate physiological responses as well as normal and pathological mechanisms, including related to signaling, gene regulation, and epigenetics. State-of-the-art methodologies are used in human and murine systems including CRISPR/Cas9 as well as a range of next generation sequencing approaches (e.g., ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, ChIA-PET, and Hi-ChIP), and autoimmune and tumor immunology animal models.
Requirements:
The candidate must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree. The ideal candidate will be independent, innovative, and interactive, with a strong background in immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
Applications from women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged. Appointees may be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or foreign nationals eligible to obtain a valid employment authorized visa. This position is subject to a background investigation. Salary is commensurate with education, research experience, and accomplishments.
