IRW’s Finance and Corporate Services division is recruiting for the position of ‘International Accounts Officer’ on a full-time, permanent basis, to join its International Financial Accounting team based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of IRW and Country offices fund transfers ledger reconciliation. You will monitor and track project documentations are all saved in appropriate files and monthly review to ensure all projects invoicing in IRW ledger is complete, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of the team within Islamic Relief.
The successful candidate must have or be:
- Degree in Accountancy/Finance
- Intermediate Level Qualified or studying final level of AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW professional qualifications.
- Demonstrable experience in the development sector at same level
- Evidence of continuing professional development and successful application of best practice in accounting and finance.
- Thorough understanding of donor contractual invoicing; accruals and prepayments.
- Experience of donor, Country office accounting, budgets and yearend financial reporting.
- Well organised and efficient ability to manage competing deadlines within set time constraints.
- Good Excel skills; in designing and manipulating reports.
- Experience of providing both challenge and support to a range of stakeholders including non-financial audiences at all levels in the organisation.
- Ability to exercise judgment and take decisions on unexpected problems.
- Good written communication skills, able to prepare written procedures, reports and deliver internal presentations.
- Verbal skills to communicate with all levels in an organisation and explain technical or complex financial aspects in a wide range of situations.
- Must have previous exposure and experience of partner and institution’s financial compliance.
- Experience in operating and extracting data from complex accounting systems.
- Experience of budgeting for project activities, monitor and report on financial activities and undertaken appropriate analysis.
- Good all round business acumen and an understanding of the role of the Finance department in adding value to operational decision making.
- Ability to drive through continuous improvement.
- Experience in operating and extracting data from complex accounting systems.
