The Role:

 

Oxfam in Bangladesh is looking for a seasoned leader in government liason & relations to provide technical support and thought leadership on government relations across the entire Oxfam in Bangladesh country programme.

 

What we are looking for:

 

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam’s mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusion in all you do.

  • Anticipate potential risks concerning Oxfam complying with GoB rules and regulations for INGOs, immediately inform senior management, and lead/support to manage those risks.
  • Undertake continuous sensitization and capacity building of Programme teams at all levels that enable them to carry out their responsibilities concerning GoB compliances in a timely and quality manner.
  • Build the capacity of partner organizations regarding government compliances such as project approvals from NGOAB, meet queries, and maintain relations with the deputy commissioner’s office to implement any emergency activities and get project clearance certificates.
  • Advise project teams, and staff on setting clauses on MoU with partners such as timelines of the project, Deputy Commissioner’s office coordination, and clearance certificate.
  • Act as a focal point for managing all inquiries from various relevant GoB offices at the national level and guide inquiries/interactions at the RRRC Office, DC Offices, Upazila, union, and camp levels offices.
  • Proactively identify the tools and techniques to resolve unsolicited issues raised by the govt. from day-to-day dealings.

 

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

 

  • Minimum six (06) years of working experience in external and government relations in development and humanitarian organizations preferably in NGO/INGO and UN agencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • A university post-graduation degree in a relevant field like public administration, governance studies, and similar.
  • Ability to reflect and effect a gender and diversity-sensitive human resources policy.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to function in high-pressure situations while maintaining emotional control.
  • Able to write both Bangla and English font with high speed.
