The knowledge management function enables a more effective and innovative UNAIDS by providing the right information to the right people at the right time thus facilitating the of achievement of the organizational objectives. It does that by: (i) ensuring the development and implementation of knowledge management strategies and policies aligned with the organizational mandate, goals and objectives; (ii) putting in place incremental measures aimed at embedding knowledge management capacity in all corporate processes; (iii) ensuring preservation of institutional memory via the establishment of norms and procedures for the retention and transfer of knowledge, as part of the UNAIDS succession planning process; (iv) building of the Secretariat’s culture around knowledge management; and (v) creating space for people to share the knowledge they have, to ask and learn from others.Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the guidance of the Manager, Knowledge Management Unit, and in close collaboration with other members of the team and across the organization, the Officer, Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning coordinates the organization-wide learning process based on sharing and utilization of knowledge.
He /she has the following key responsibilities:
1. Knowledge management strategy development and implementation
Supports the development and adoption of the corporate knowledge management strategy, roadmap, implementation plan and related policies.
Assists in the development of methods, processes, and tools to identify and respond to knowledge gaps, and the corporate learning processes needed to close these gaps.
Engages in the development of knowledge management guidelines and other quality assurance tools ensuring appropriate data/information flows with the aim of maximizing knowledge sharing impact and organizational learning.
Provides input into the development and implementation of policy documents such as standard operating procedures and guidelines.
2. Learning needs identification
Monitors organization-wide gaps in knowledge, working closely with teams and organization units across UNAIDS.
Provides guidance and training on, as appropriate, learning and other knowledge sharing programmes, including communities of practices, for UNAIDS staff and others, as appropriate.
Reviews the corporate processes designed to close knowledge gaps and makes recommendations for improvement.
Proactively seeks to identify good organizational knowledge management practices, undertakes actions to roll them out across the organization and generally, coordinates the process of continuous improvement of the organizational learning and knowledge management system.
3. Promoting a culture of learning
Support the development of learning and knowledge sharing strategies globally, regionally and at country office level, as required in collaboration with learning content owners / subject matter experts.
Works closely with learning programme managers / focal points to agree on priorities and ensure new programmes include learning outcomes and support these during programme design, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Contributes to the development of annual plans and reports to ensure learning is effectively planned for and tangible results are included in the annual targets. Measures implementation and learning impact.
Promotes learning and knowledge sharing throughout the Secretariat and works to strengthen links with other corporate systems.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree at Master´s level or equivalent in Learning, Organizational Development, Communications, Information and Communication Technologies, Public Policy or Administration, Business Administration, or another field related to the responsibilities. For internal candidates, a first university degree combined with 7 years of relevant professional experience will be considered as equivalent.Competencies:

Essential: A minimum of five years of experience in knowledge management and corporate learning. Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and organizational learning activities. Track record of learning delivery including impact assessment in/for large, complex and geographically dispersed organizations.
Desirable: Prior experience with learning and knowledge management in public health or HIV. Excellent training and facilitation skills.Languages:
Essential: Proficiency in English.
Desirable: Knowledge of additional UN official languages.Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization’s MobilityPolicy. The above mentioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

USD 64,121 at single ratePost Adjustment: 37.5 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
