The Mixed Migration Project Specialist will assure the implementation of the Mixed Migration Centre’s multi-country research project “Climate change and mobility in the Middle East: State of knowledge”, providing project management and logistical support, and conduct a scoping exercise to identify gaps and opportunities for MMC activities in the region. The Mixed Migration Project Specialist will be the representative of MMC in the region.
MMC is a global network engaged in data collection, research, analysis, and policy and programmatic development on mixed migration, with regional hubs in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America, and a global team based across Copenhagen, Geneva, and Brussels.
MMC is a leading source for independent and high-quality data, research, analysis, and expertise. MMC aims to increase understanding of mixed migration, to positively impact global and regional migration policies, to inform evidence-based mixed migration responses for people on the move and to stimulate forward thinking in public and policy debates on mixed migration. MMC’s overarching focus is on human rights and protection for all people on the move.

While its institutional link to DRC ensures MMC’s work is grounded in operational reality, it acts as an independent source of data, research, analysis, and policy development on mixed migration for policy makers, practitioners, journalists, and the broader humanitarian sector

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grant management, i.e. budget monitoring, project reporting, with the support of DRC and MMC staff, for the project “Climate change and mobility in the Middle East: State of knowledge” and any subsequent projects.
- Project management, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Contribute to the organization of research for projects, including but not limited to organization of travel, meetings and interviews, and the final validation workshop.
- The main contact point between MMC and DRC in the region, ensuring smooth communication and liaison between teams.
- Represent MMC with among stakeholders from the policy and practice fields in the Middle East region, including presentations at meetings, and sometimes requiring travel within the region (estimated 10%);
- Develop a network of regional expertise on mixed migration, and on climate impacts on mobility.
- Design and implement a scoping exercise to identify gaps and opportunities for MMC activities in the region; and
- Other tasks as may be required and pertinent to the overall purpose of the role.
Experience and technical competencies:

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management, preferably related to research.
- Experience working in the Middle East region.
- Experience in budget and grant management.
- Experience of working with international organizations in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of migration and displacement, and preferably climate change impacts.
- Experience in data collection and analysis in the field.
- Team player with strong coordination skills; and
- Highly organized.
Languages:
- Full professional proficiency in English
