Title Spring 2024 Biology Peer Advisor
Position Description Peer Advisors are undergraduate students who assist faculty and students in the Department of Biological Sciences during the advising period.
Responsibilities of Peer Advisors include (but may not be limited to) the following:

  • Offer individual assistance to students on such topics as schedule preparation, using DegreeWorks, calculating a GPA, the Add/Drop process, and learning about campus resources, etc.
  • Assist students during Advising, Registration and the Add/Drop period
  • Attend all designated trainings and supervision meetings
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Peer Advisors will be expected to:

  • Interact with students in a friendly and professional manner
  • Adhere to all confidentiality protocols as outlined during the training process

Please note that some evening hours may be required/requested for this position.
Preferred Qualifications It is preferred that applicants have the following qualifications:
1. Biology majors with Junior or Senior class status.
2. Experience in DegreeWorks including what-if analysis and creating plans.
3. Experience holding meetings in Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
4. A professional demeanor and ability to follow confidentiality protocols.
5. A willingness to learn the detailed requirements of the various Biology degree pathways.
6. Ability to follow instructions and to seek advice when needed.
